Transition Year Curriculum in Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown
The aim of Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown Transition Year Programme is;
- to give students the opportunity to discover and develop their individual gifts and talents.
- to enable our students to become more independent.
- to experience a year where the emphasis will be cultivating individual responsibility for study and self-directed learning.
TY Programme has evolved as Scoil Mhuire strives to offer students the best possible opportunities to develop social awareness, social competence, technical and academic skills as well as self-directed learning skills which will, in time, become the basis for students’ personal development and maturity.
As part of Scoil Mhuire’s commitment to prepare students to face the challenges ahead with knowledge and integrity, and in line with the Department of Education’s Transition Year Mission to promote pupils’ personal, social, educational and vocational development, the TY Programme will incorporate: creative and diverse approaches to teaching and learning; opportunities for self-directed learning; development of skills for learning and skills for life; a focus on the process of learning rather than content.
