Principal’s Welcome

Principal’s Welcome

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our school website.

Our school has a long and proud tradition of excellence in education, serving the students, families and wider community of Strokestown and the surrounding area for many years. At the heart of our school is a commitment to ensuring that every student is valued, respected and cared for as an important member of our school community.

As a CEIST school, our ethos is rooted in the values of care, community, respect, inclusion and the development of the whole person. We strive to create a welcoming, supportive and positive environment in which every student feels a sense of belonging and is encouraged to reach their full potential.

We place a strong emphasis on academic achievement and excellence. We are committed to providing high-quality teaching and learning, setting high expectations for all our students and supporting each individual to achieve their very best. At the same time, we are committed to the holistic development of each student, helping them to grow in confidence, independence and resilience, and to become well-rounded young people who will make a positive contribution to their families, their communities and wider society.

Our students are encouraged and challenged each day to develop their talents, pursue their interests and take pride in their achievements. We work hard to provide a caring, disciplined and stimulating learning environment where students can flourish, and where high expectations are combined with genuine support and encouragement.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated and committed staff who strive to provide teaching and learning of the highest standard. Our broad curriculum, together with a wide range of extracurricular, sporting, cultural and personal development opportunities, allows students to discover their strengths and develop new interests. Our excellent facilities further enhance the educational experience we provide.

We also greatly value the partnership between home and school. Parents and guardians play a vital role in the education and development of their children, and we are very fortunate to have an active and vibrant Parents’ Association. We warmly encourage parents and guardians to become involved in school life and to work with us in supporting our students. Strong partnerships between students, parents, staff and the wider community are central to the success of our school.

Julie O’ Donoghue, Principal, Scoil Mhuire Strokestown.

As I begin my role as Principal, I am honoured to be part of a school with such a strong history and such a clear commitment to its students and community. I look forward to working with our students, staff, parents, guardians and the wider community as we build on the many strengths and traditions of our school and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

We are proud of our history and of the contribution our school has made to the Strokestown community over many years. As we look to the future, we remain committed to ensuring that our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, values and confidence they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

We would be delighted to welcome your child to our school. I hope that this website gives you a sense of the warmth, ambition and community spirit that make our school such a special place.
